Chichen Itza is made into a square which was reduced to layers on an area of about 6.4 square kilometers with a stair in the middle. The largest temple is called the Temple of the Warriors, built in the 12th century after the old temple of Chakmol. The center was built as a dense square castle, located in the middle of the public city and a gathering of crowds.

Colosseum, Italy

This is one of the most historical landmarks. It is the largest outdoor stadium in the world that can hold up to 50,000 audiences, located in the center of Rome, Italy. The structure of the amphitheater is a four-story elliptical structure, the inside was floored with limestone. There is a drainage to prevent flooding while raining. It is a very smart design in that era that makes audiences feel accessible to athletes. It is considered a prototype for modern sports stadiums.

In the past, this stadium was used as a great fighting arena for “Gladiators”, Roman fighters who entertained audiences. The seats were divided by rank from top to bottom, starting with the kings, nobles, royalty, wealthy Romans, general citizens, and slaves sitting on the floor, this stadium has many tourists who visit to indulge in history and take photos.

Great Wall of China, China

It is a wall separated by fortresses in the ancient China era. Most of the walls that appear today were built during the Qin Dynasty to prevent invasion by early Chinese civilization since the Zhou Dynasty (around 400 BC) because they would invade China along the northern border. During the Qin Dynasty, the Great Wall was ordered to be constructed along the border to prevent the Xiongnu from invading and the Turks from the north. After that, many more walls were built together but nomadic tribes from Mongolia and Manchuria were able to successfully break through the Great Wall of China.

The Great Wall of China can be called the “Wall of Thousand Li (Wànlĭ Chángchéng)” The National Cultural Heritage Administration of China announced on June 6, 2012, that archaeologists officially measured the length of the world’s largest human-made construction, or “The Great Wall” for five years from 2008-2012 and found that it was more than twice as long as originally recorded, or 21,196 kilometers from 8,850 kilometers, covering 15 provinces across the country. It is believed that if you look at China from space, you can see the Great Wall of China, which in fact cannot be seen from space.

Petra, Jordan

It is an ancient carved stone city hidden mysteriously in the Valley of Wadi Musa, a valley located between the Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba in Jordan. It was originally a large commercial city that was abandoned for more than 700 years until the arrival of Switzerland’s explorer, Johann Ludwig Burckhard who had traveled past this city in 1812.

Petra was registered by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1985. The explanation for this city is “It is one of the most precious things of the cultural heritage of mankind”. Currently, it can only be entered by horses.

Machu Picchu, Peru

Also known as the Lost City of Inca. It is the remains of an ancient Incan civilization located in the high mountains of Peru at an altitude of about 2,350 meters. It was forgotten by outsiders until it was rediscovered by archaeologist Hiram Bingham in 1911. Machu Picchu was an important evidence of the Inca Empire. In 1983, UNESCO designated Machu Picchu as a World Heritage Site, making it a popular tourist destination to study history.

Taj Mahal, India

It is a tomb that was constructed using gigantic white marble in Agra during 1631-1586 under the orders of Emperor Mogul Shah Jahan. The Taj Mahal was a gem of Muslim art in India and one of the wonders of the world registered by UNESCO in 1983. It is also regarded as the greatest and most beautiful architectural achievement in all Indo-Islamic architecture.

The Taj Mahal is a monument of love built on Emperor Shah Jahan’s love for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, to be used as a monument to the wife’s burial after her death because she gave birth to the 14th heir. With this sorrow, he abdicated the throne to build the Taj Mahal for more than 22 years.
