South Korea’s NTS warns foreign workers to complete Tax Filing by Feb 2025

South Korea’s National Tax Service (NTS) warned foreign workers to complete their 2024 income tax filing by the end of February and advised them to study the correct tax filing process to avoid fines if filed incorrectly.
The NTS told all foreign workers working in South Korea, where the number of foreign workers in South Korea is about 610,000 people, to file taxes, regardless of who they are. Any nationality, and no matter how long you stay in South Korea, you must follow this year’s tax filing rulesม except for workers who work daily and temporarily.
NTS also recommends “Comprehensive Service” to facilitate filing and tax payments. People can log in to the Hometax website operated by the National Tax Service, follow all of the processes, and allow all information to be disclosed to the tax authorities by January 15. All information will be sent directly to the taxpayer’s employer so that taxpayers won’t have to worry about misinformation or forget to file.
Hometax has many languages to help foreign workers who do not understand Korean, including English, Chinese, and Vietnamese, and videos on how to file taxes in English on NTS’ YouTube channel.
The NTS also runs an English hotline for those who have difficulties or have questions about tax filing to provide one-on-one advice and help, making it more convenient and faster to get advice and help.
Tax filing must be done in detail, especially tax breaks. If there is a mistake or incomplete document, they may be fined. Therefore, it is important to study the correct tax filing procedure and check the information before filing taxes so that no mistake may be made later.
Tax filing is the duty of all workers working in South Korea, whether Korean or foreign, who are responsible even for foreign workers. The National Tax Service (NTS) is prepared to help foreign workers who are required to file taxes to do it accurately and completely so that everyone can pay their taxes without any problems in the future.
