Gyeongbokgung Palace

This is considered a very large Palace because there are more than 200 sub-halls, but it was destroyed by Japan, and now only 10 halls remain. It is also considered the oldest Palace in Seoul because it was built in 1394.

The Palace is very interesting because it has beautiful architecture and beautiful views including pools, natural views, and art galleries. In addition, there is also a National Palace Museum inside the Palace.

What’s interesting here is that the Changing of the Guard Ceremony of the Palace is a grand performance. In addition to watching the performance, tourists can dress in hanbok to look retro and understand the atmosphere of Korea in the old days. It’s an interesting activity.

Changdeokgung Palace

It is the second most important Palace after Gyeongbokgung Palace. This is another most important Palace because it is the residence of 9 Joseon kings. It was also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.

There are a total of 13 buildings that have been restored because they were burned down during the Japanese war. The highlight of this Palace is the “Forbidden Garden,” which is a well-maintained garden up till now. There is a pond, and a tree garden with trees almost 300 years old.

Changgyeonggung Palace

The Palace was built in 1483, but it was destroyed repeatedly by fire, causing many changes in buildings. This Palace is spacious and surrounded by nature and a large garden. The point that everyone and tourists like to take a picture of is the curved stone bridge.

There is a greenhouse called the grand greenhouse, which is the first Korean greenhouse to be designed in a Western style. It became a park because it had both a zoo and a botanical garden during the Japanese colonial period in 1909, which was called “Changgyeongwon Garden.”

Hwaseong Haenggung Palace

This Palace is located in Suwon. It is a resting and ceremonial Palace. It consists of many buildings connected in an orderly fashion. There are also performances for tourists to see such as fighting using various weapons of ancient Korean warriors. Inside the Palace, there will be items of a replica of the king’s chamber. This is also Dae Jang Geum Drama’s set, making many tourists often follow the series.

Unhyeongung Palace

This is a small Palace which is also one of the historically important Palaces because it is located in the middle of the current business district of Seoul. The Palace was the residence of the Emperor in the Joseon Dynasty. During the Japanese colonial period, this place was also invaded and attacked, then it was all restored.

Currently, it has been opened as a museum for tourists to visit for free and there is also a rental hanbok for tourists to enjoy the atmosphere more. This will be the atmosphere of an ancient Korean-style house that gives a warm atmosphere.

This is only a part of Korea’s Palace. There are many Palaces that you should visit once you are in Korea.  Every Palace is important and some are also designated as World Heritage Sites. Those who travel to Korea should not miss visiting these Palaces. Let’s go on a cultural Trip!
