Shirakawa-go
This is a small village located in the middle of the valley in Gifu and Toyama province. This village is filled with ancient architecture with Gassho-zukuri, the roof that resembles two hands together, that UNESCO listed as a World Heritage Site. Apart from architecture, this village is located in the valley among trees and beautiful nature that are different in each season.
The recommended site for you to go to once you visit Sgirakawa-go is Shirakawa Hachiman Shrine Festival Hall. This shrine was built during the 17th century. It is well respected by people who live there and also well preserved. Another site that you should not miss is the Tenshukaku viewpoint located on a hill near the village. You can see the view of the village at a high angle when you look down, and you can see the beauty of the combination of old architecture and the nature that surrounds the village.
Nikko
It is located in Tochigi. Nature lovers would love it because there are waterfalls, lakes, and various trees. The most visited places in Nikko are the temples such as Taiyuuin Temple, Nikko Tosho-gu Shrine, Nikko Futarasan Shrine, and Rinnoji Temple. Nikko is a center of various cultures and natures that is praised as One of Japan’s World Heritage Cities. In terms of natural attractions, there are Shinkyo Bridge, a red bridge crossing over the Daiagawa River, Chuzenji Lake, a large lake located on the foothills. Tourists will see a beautiful sight where the mountain changes color according to the season and the lake where tourists row. Kegon Waterfall Falls is one of Japan’s three beautiful waterfalls. There is also a ride on the Akechidaira Ropeway at the scenic spot. You can see the beautiful views of Lake Chuzenji and Kegon Falls as well.
Hakone
This is a city located in Kanagawa. It is a peaceful city with beautiful nature and is also a spot to see Fuji Mount. You can see the Fuji Mount by going to Mishima Skywalk, the longest skywalk in Japan. Not only the Fuji Mount that you can see but also the beauty of Saruka Bay. There are a lot of activities here such as taking a ride on a cable car to view Lake Ashi or sailing in Lake Ashi to see the view. There is also a railway with both sides filled with hydrangea flowers along the railway.
Beppu
It is a city adjacent to the central sea of Oita. The city is famous for its natural hot springs, such as the hot spring that everyone has to go to is Oniyama Jigoku, a blue hot spring in the middle of the woods where the red Torii is located. There are eight hot springs to see here. Most tourists like to boil eggs and baked pudding here. It is also available to soak onsen as well. Moreover, nature lovers are sure to like it because there is a Beppu garden where you can take a leisurely walk in the spring.
